MY STORY
Who I am

From 2013 -2018, I worked as a Design engineer in the oil and gas industry.
Late 2014 I started Math with Miss A, a comprehensive online math tutoring service. I have experience tutoring elementary through college level students.
2018 I left the engineering industry to teach full time. I was the teacher of record for the 2018-2019 school year where I taught and tutored High School Algebra. Of my 140 students over 30 of them were Special Education students. My students saw a significant increase in mastery level of the Algebra 1 TEKS for the STAAR test.
My experience in the classroom working with students at all levels has improved my tutoring capabilities significantly. I am currently pursuing my Masters of Science in Mathematics at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
When I tutor, I like to focus on what the individual needs. My proficiencies lie at determining what step in the process the student is struggling in and empowering them with the tools to help them understand the concept. The great thing about math is there’s multiple ways to solve a problem. I encourage my students to learn a technique and execute the one that makes the most sense to them. I can also look at notes from class to determine how their teacher taught it to stay in line with what they’ve already learned. I just love math!
